Filing a Cargo Claim

At Estes Forwarding Worldwide (EFW), we prioritize the safe and efficient handling of your shipments. However, in the rare event of loss or damage, we have established a streamlined process to ensure your cargo claims are addressed promptly and fairly.
To initiate a cargo claim with EFW, please follow these steps:
1. Complete the Freight Loss or Damage Claim Form:
Download and fill out the electronically fillable form available here. Ensure all relevant fields are accurately completed, including:
- EFW Waybill number
- Date of shipment
- Date of claim
- Claimant’s reference number
- Claimant’s email
- Detailed description of the lost or damaged items, including weight, quantity, nature of damage or loss, and itemized value
2. Gather Supporting Documentation
Attach the following documents to substantiate your claim:
- EFW Waybill or shipment invoice
- Proof of payment for the freight bill
- Itemized invoice indicating the cost of the goods
- Itemized repair invoice, if applicable
- Detailed explanation of the nature and extent of the loss or damage
- Documentation showing the weight of the affected freight
- Photographs of the damaged freight, including both inner and outer packaging
- Shipper’s Bill of Lading (BOL)
3. Submit the Claim
Once the form is completed and all supporting documents are compiled, submit your claim via one of the following methods:

Important Considerations
- Notification of Loss or Damage: Promptly notify EFW of any loss or damage. Retain all salvage, including the freight, exterior packaging, and inner packing materials, until the claim is resolved.
- Timeframe for Filing Claims: All domestic claims must be filed within nine months from the date of delivery. EFW has 120 days from the receipt of the claim to conclude the investigation.
- Concealed Damage: If damage is not apparent at the time of delivery, notify EFW within five days of receipt to request an inspection. Retain all packaging materials for examination.
